中原工学院与英国曼彻斯特大学（University of Manchester，简称曼大）合作举办纺织工程、市场营销和会计学专业等高等教育本科项目，2004年由河南省教育厅批准立项，2006年通过教育部复核获得项目编号。
世界百强名校英国曼彻斯特大学成立于1824年，是世界上第一台计算机的诞生地，拥有英国最大的图书馆，学科覆盖了工程、自然科学、医学、生命科学和人文科学等领域，国际化特色突出。建校以来，该校25名教师获得诺贝尔奖，拥有极高的国际声誉，是国际上非常有实力和影响力的一所著名高校。2012年，《泰晤士报》公布的英国大学的最新排名中，曼彻斯特大学居第32位。
项目积极引进合作高校的课程体系、原版教材、教学方式、考试方法和先进的管理经验等优质教育教学资源，聘请外籍英语教师和合作高校部分专业教师参与教学工作，营造国际化教学氛围，为项目学生提供高质量、有特色的教育服务。
项目学生可以根据中外合作双方共同制定的培养方案和教学安排在中原工学院修完全部学分，成绩合格、符合学位授予条件的颁发我校本科毕业证书和学士学位证书。少量优秀的学生按照上述培养方案和教学安排，在中方学习二年中，修满培养方案中的对接课程学分，雅思英语考试成绩达到6.0以上且获得赴英签证，可申请到英方完成后二年的学习，成绩合格可获得曼彻斯特大学的学士学位。在曼大学习期间，曼大给予学费优惠20%，我校给予在曼大攻读纺织科学与技术方向学生一定程度的学费资助。项目学生毕业后可优先被推荐到英国曼彻斯特大学等名校攻读硕士学位。
2006年4月，教育部章新胜副部长和教育部专家组实地考察了我校中英本科合作办学项目，给予了充分肯定。2012年1月，项目通过教育部组织的中外合作办学试点评估，纺织工程项目获得优秀。
A Brief Introduction to Cooperative Schoolrunning Project of
Zhongyuan University of Technology and University of Manchester
The cooperation of Zhongyuan University of Technology (ZUT) and University of Manchester (UM) in holding undergraduate education projects (Textile Engineering, Marketing, and Accounting) was approved by Henan Education Department in 2004. In 2006, the project was rechecked by Ministry of Education and obtained project number.
Founded in 1824, UM (one of the Top 100 universities in the world) is the birthplace of the world’s first computer. It has the largest library in the UK, and its subjects cover many fields, such as Engineering, Natural Science, Medicine, Life Science, Human Science, etc. 25 teachers of UM have won Nobel Prize since its foundation. UM enjoys a high international reputation and is one of the most potential and influential universities in the world. According to TIMES, UM ranks 32 in Britain’s universities ranking in 2012.
The Project introduces superior educational and instructional resources of UM, such as curriculum system, the original version of textbooks, teaching method, test method, advanced management experiences, etc. Native English teachers and some professional teachers of UM are invited to take part in teaching. International teaching atmosphere is built to provide students with highquality and characteristic education.
According to the cultivating plan and teaching arrangement formulated by the two cooperative universities, students can complete all the credits in ZUT, and if they get qualified academic records and meet the Degreeconferring Regulations, they will be awarded Undergraduate Graduation Certificate and Bachelor’s Degree of ZUT. Some top students can also choose to study in ZUT for the first two years to complete the credits of joint courses, and then apply to study in UM for the rest two years if they score 6.0 or above in IELTS and get the UK visa. In this case, they will be awarded Bachelor’s Degree of UM if they get qualified academic records. During studying in UM, students will be given a tuition discount of 20% by UM and those who major in Textile Science and Technology in UM will be given an extra grant by ZUT. After graduation, these students will be given priority to be recommended to study for a Master’s Degree in UM and other famous universities.
Zhang Xinsheng, vice minister of Ministry of Education, and experts group of Ministry of Education had a onthespot investigation of the SinoBritish Undergraduate Cooperative Schoolrunning Project in April, 2006 and gave us a full affirmation. The Project passed the Chineseforeign cooperation in running school pilot evaluation of Ministry of Education in January, 2012, and the evaluation result of Textile Engineering was excellent.
